Bios: Grace Proskin & Isabella Brown
Many of our customers have been asking us to provide a little more information about our two young co-owners, so we decided featuring them in this week's blog was the best way to introduce them to the community. Grace and Isabella are both incredible young ladies, with a growing resume of activities and accomplishments, and as parents it is hard not to be proud of these two. They are learning to juggle family life, school, activities, and social life, all along with the challenges of growing and becoming one of Berkshire County's leading pair of youth entrepreneurs. Shire Fire Candles is in great hands with these two, as they are committed to producing, marketing, selling, and distributing, the best handmade soy candles the Berkshires has to offer. Grace Proskin-- Co-Founder.......Grace is 11
years old. She is currently entering 6th grade, at the Montessori School of the Berkshires in Lenox, MA. Grace is a tom-boy through and through and loves to hang out and compete with the boys. She enjoys playing sports, and her favorites are soccer and golf. Grace also is very artistic, and enjoys creating all kinds of art projects, especially paintings. Her current artistic passion is for creating online videos, and she hopes to soon create a YouTube channel for Shire Fire Candles. Perhaps you will see that released soon. In addition, Grace is growing to become a very talented musician. She doubles on clarinet and violin. She participates in Berkshire Children and Families Kids 4 Harmony program, every day after school, studying music, and playing with their Advanced Color Strings Ensemble. This year she was invited to play violin in the Longy School of Music Side by Side Orchestra, alongside other children from El-Sistema groups all throughout Massachusetts. Over this past summer Grace was chosen to be a part of Tanglewood's Days in the Arts camp. There she had some incredible experiences to learn and grow on clarinet, as well as to experience Mass Moca, Jacob's Pillow Dance, and get a back stage tour of Tanglewood where she got to meet Andris Nelson, and the one and only John Williams! Grace inspires to be a police officer one day when she grows up.
Isabella Brown--Co-Founder......Isabella (Izzy) is 10 years old. She is currently entering 5th grade, at the Montessori School of the Berkshies in Lenox, MA. Isabella is the complete opposite of her sister Grace, and is a complete girly girl princess! She enjoys dress up, fancy hair styles, manicures, pedicures, fairies, and princesses. She also has an incredible imagination! Izzy considers herself the best at making up creative games to play, and it doesn't take much other than a simple idea to spark her imagination! Isabella is an avid reader. She enjoys Harry Potter, and the Percy Jackson series, and is a wealth of information when it comes to reciting facts on wizards or Greek Gods. Isabella, like Grace is a talented musician, playing viola in the Berkshire Children and Families Kids 4 Harmony Program. She is in her second year playing with the Longy School of Music Side by Side Orchestra. Izzy is also an incredible actress. She has been acting in Berkshire Theatre Group's community plays, and has landed roles in Mary Poppins, A Christmas Carol, and this year's touring production of Billy Budd in the Breadbox. She has also participated in small productions of various Shakespeare plays at the Montessori School of the Berkshires, and as part of Shakespeare & Company's summer camps. Isabella hopes to become a veterinarian or a famous actress when she grows up.
